Journalists Overheard Speculating Before Romney Event There's a '40 Percent Chance He Says Something Stupid' (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Journalist takes responsibility --

Reporters on Politico's live stream of a Mitt Romney campaign event were overheard speculating that there was a "40 percent chance he says something stupid," according to the Huffington Post's Jon Ward.

Ward, a senior political reporter for the site, tweeted what he heard at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday morning:

It was unclear which reporters Ward overheard speaking and whether they definitely were from Politico.

In August, Yahoo! News fired their Washington bureau chief after he was overheard saying during a live video broadcast at the Republican National Convention that attendees were “happy to have a party with black people drowning”. He was hired earlier this month at Politico.

UPDATE:

BuzzFeed's McKay Coppins sent out a tweet after the Romney event seemingly taking responsibility for the remarks:

UPDATE II:

A source tells TheBlaze that Coppins was the pool reporter assigned to the Romney campaign today (such reporters are tasked with writing up the day's events in a very unbiased, straight forward way). While that has yet to be verified, it would make sense since Coppins has acted in that role before.
