Ironic Moment of the Day': Hamas Supporters in Israel Flee for Cover When Siren Alerts Incoming Missile

“As far as these Palestinians are concerned, there is no problem if a number of Arabs are killed on the way to destroying Israel.”

Sharona Schwartz reports from Israel for TheBlaze

Arab and leftist students were in the middle of a rally in Jerusalem - in support of Hamas – on Tuesday when air raid sirens blared and sent them fleeing for cover. Though Hamas aims its missiles at Jews, their hardware apparently doesn’t discriminate, a point made even more obvious as one of the Israeli citizens killed by a Hamas rocket was a Bedouin Arab.

The missile from which the demonstrators were fleeing fell short of Jerusalem and instead made impact outside a Palestinian village near Bethlehem.

That West Bank Palestinians are in Hamas’ line of fire hasn’t stopped many from openly cheering on the Islamist terror group that rules Gaza, as reported by veteran Palestinian Affairs Correspondent Khaled Abu Toameh – himself a Muslim, Arab-Israeli citizen. On Sunday, he wrote:

There is nothing more nauseating than watching people celebrate as rockets are being fired toward Israel from the Gaza Strip.

This is what happened last week when Hamas fired rockets at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

As soon as the sirens went off, many Palestinians took to the streets and rooftops, especially in Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods, to cheer Hamas. Sometimes they responded to the Hamas rockets by launching fireworks into the air as a sign of joy, and chanting, "We are all Hamas!" and, "O Jews, the army of Mohammed is coming after you!"

Scenes of jubilation over the rocket attacks on Israel were also reported in several Palestinian cities in the West Bank, including Ramallah, the center of Palestinian "pragmatism and moderation."

Later, upon learning that Hamas's rockets had failed to kill Israelis in the two cities, the Palestinians voiced disappointment.

Never mind that the rockets could have fallen on their heads. As far as these Palestinians are concerned, there is no problem if a number of Arabs are killed on the way to destroying Israel.

The students demonstrating in the video are getting an education at the world renowned Hebrew University thanks to the largesse of the Israeli government, which not only reserves spaces for Muslim students but also highly subsidizes the cost of higher education.

Pro-Israel blogger Aussie Dave who found the video tells TheBlaze, "Besides the blatant hypocrisy and irony on display, the mere fact that a group of Arab students at an Israeli university can freely demonstrate shows what a vibrant democracy Israel is, and not the 'Apartheid State' those who demonize Israel would have you believe."

On his blog, he called it the “ironic moment of the day” and quipped: “I guess they won’t be boycotting Israeli bomb shelters any time soon.”

This is not the first time Palestinians have celebrated terrorist acts against innocent civilians. After the September 11 attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets in the West Bank to celebrate. Fox News reported in 2001: “Some joyously fired rifles in the air, laughed, handed out sodas and candy and made signs of victory with their fingers.” On Wednesday, Palestinians in Gaza and in Ramallah went out to the streets to celebrate the bombing of a bus in Tel Aviv for which Hamas took responsibility.
