(TheBlaze/AP) -- Media reports say a 33-year-old Brazilian bridegroom bled to death at his wedding reception when he tripped and fell on an empty glass of beer.
The G1 news website says the freak accident occurred early Monday morning some six hours after navy sergeant Fabio Jefferson dos Santos Maciel and Geise Guimaraes tied the knot.

The Telegraph has more detail:
Mr Maciel was playing with a young bridesmaid at about 2am on Monday morning when he tripped and fell.
A beer glass he had put in his trouser pocket broke and pierced his femoral vein - a major artery in the top of the leg - causing rapid and irretrievable blood loss.
[...]A friend of the couple said Mr Maciel's widow was in tears and could not believe her husband was gone.
Fabiana Sena, 31, told a newspaper: "She just cries and says 'I want my husband back'. Nobody can believe what happened, and even less the way it happened."
Maciel had been practicing his vows for months, the Telegraph adds, and had recently finished constructing a home for his new bride.
