Can You Spot The Typo in this U.N. Tweet That Has Palestinians Furious?
November 29, 2012
The United Nations' official Twitter account posted the following message on Thursday, which has since been deleted:
Did you catch the typo?
The continuous Israeli-Palestinian conflict involves the Palestinians wanting a "two-state solution," which would establish an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. Of course, it's much more complicated than that and there are a number of factors that go into a so-called two-state solution, but you get the point.
So by calling for a "1-state solution" in "solidarity with Palestinians," the United Nations predictably infuriated many of those same Palestinians.
The UN staffer behind the tweet has since apologized personally for the mistake.
@acarvin @laurenist Sorry all -- terrible typo on my part and then went into a telephone conference call before catching it.
