Bad Idea: Bragging About Your 'Classic' Drunken Hit-and-Run Car Accident on Facebook

"Drivin drunk... classsic ;) but to whoever's vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P."

An 18-year-old spent New Year's Day in jail after a Facebook post tipped police officers off about his drunken hit-and-run accident in Astoria, Ore. the night before.

At approximately 1 a.m., Astoria police discovered evidence indicating that two cars had been hit on 5th Street, KGW.com reports. Later on New Year's Day, officers were sent messages by two separate people who provided the following Facebook post by 18-year-old Jacob Cox-Brown:

"Drivin drunk… classsic ;) but to whoever's vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P."

After reading the post and very sincere apology, officers made their way to Cox-Brown's house and found a car that had damage matching that of the victims' vehicles.

While he escaped a very costly DUI charge, the teen was charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver.
