The Democratic Governors Association posted, then apparently took down, a petition to stop Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg from holding a fundraiser for Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

"Stop Zuck's Christie fundraiser!" the petition stated. "Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is hosting a fundraiser for right-wing Republican darling Chris Christie. Sign the form at the right to tell Zuckerberg to cancel his fundraiser and stop funding Gov. Christie's re-election campaign."

The petition went up Thursday, following the announcement that the Silicon Valley tech mogul -- who has long championed education -- would host the fundraiser during Christie's first out-of-state swing to raise money for his re-election.

By Friday morning, the link to the petition was returning an error page, though the Washington Free Beacon's Lachlan Markay noted a cached version was still available.

A DGA representative did not immediately return a request for comment to TheBlaze about why the petition was taken down.

Despite the petition's removal, a DGA tweet about it remained early Friday:

Christie told reporters Thursday he got to know Zuckerberg when he donated $100 million to Newark, N.J.'s public schools in 2010.

“When Mark Zuckerberg and [wife] Priscilla Chan offer to hold a fundraiser for you, you say, ‘Yes sir, what time should I come?’” Christie said, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger. “They’re both wonderful people, have become very good friends to me and to Mary Pat…and I'm certainly happy to have their support in the election.”
