How Was the Corvette Driver in This Crash Not Decapitated?

Earlier this week, a low-riding sports car collided with a box truck to the extent that the car's front end, all the way to the driver's seat, became wedged under the truck. How did the driver avoid being decapitated? According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, he ducked.

The corvette driver, who was conscious when emergency responders arrived on the scene, was heading southbound on 1-405 in San Diego the night of March 4 when he rear-ended the moving truck in front of him, LAFD's description on photos of the scene read.

According to the local Patch news website out of Encino-Tarzana in California, the man in the two-seater sportscar was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
