Officials Intercept Explosive Sent to Ariz. Sheriff Joe Arpaio -- Here Are the Details

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio certainly has his detractors, but it seems one opponent was willing to take political disagreement to dangerous lengths. A package that contained an explosive device was mailed to the controversial public official this week.

Luckily, authorities intercepted and destroyed the bomb material last night before it reached Arpaio, although it was addressed to and bound for his Phoenix office, MyFoxPhoenix.com reports.

The explosive's presence was detected when the box was x-rayed, according to police. And after it was discovered, a bomb team was brought in to handle the situation.

The FBI and authorities are currently investigating and looking into leads.
