New Hi-Res Photo Appears to Show Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect Fleeing the Scene

"Agents had told him, he said, that his picture was the best they had, because it was taken from a better camera than the others that were posted."

A hi-res photo posted on Reddit Thursday seems to show at least one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, possibly both, fleeing the scene of the crime. We do caution that the image's authenticity has not been publicly confirmed by authorities, however, the image appears to have first been posted on Facebook Monday.

The FBI on Thursday released several low-res images of two individuals that they believe are involved in the attack. Federal authorities are hoping the photos will result in positive identification of the two men. They are identified only as "Suspect #1" and "Suspect #2."

Reddit has been very active on the deadly Boston bombings since the attack occurred on Monday. A Redditor posted the following image, which appears to show Suspect 2, and possibly also Suspect 1, fleeing the scene following the blast.

As you can see, the individual is wearing a white baseball cap and a grey hoodie, matching the description of Suspect 2 in the FBI photos. He is also without a backpack in the photo, suggesting he might have put it down somewhere at that point.

Here's the full image in question, which appears to have first been posted on Facebook Monday, the same day as the bombing:

The New York Times apparently talked to the man who posted posted the original photo on his Facebook. David Green, 49, told the Times that his friends began noticing that one of the men in the image he posted looked a lot like one of the FBI's suspects. A friend of his then posted the picture on Reddit and it went viral.

More from the NY Times:

In an interview late Thursday, Mr. Green, who runs a sportswear company in Florida, confirmed that the picture was genuine, and that the F.B.I. had contacted him and requested a copy. “I have spoken to several agents,” Mr. Green said, “and they have got the photos, they are picking up material from me, and I don’t think there’s any doubt.”

Agents had told him, he said, that his picture was the best they had, because it was taken from a better camera than the others that were posted.

Mr. Green does not remember noticing the man in the white hat. He had, instead, called the F.B.I. earlier in the week to report another man, who was standing still and yelling instead of running

Then there's this image that highlights possibly both bombing suspects:

Now, compare those photos to the FBI's actual suspects below:
