What Do We Know About Chechnya, Home to the Boston Marathon Bombers

Before the apprehension of Boston Marathon bombing Suspect #2 Friday evening shortly before 9pm, the 'Real News' panel was joined by James Carafano of the Heritage Foundation to discuss Chechnya, the ancestral home of bombers Tamerin and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Nineteen-year-old Dzhokhar was born in nearby Kyrgyzstan after the family fled Chechnya. The people of Chechnya and the region have faced human rights offenses, war and terror for hundreds of years. Islamic extremists have many networks and sympathizers in Chechnya, and John Bolton tells Fox News that the Chechen rebels are motivated by two things--a desire for independence from Russia and Islamic radicalism.

Watch the panel below go over the history of Chechnya and how it could play into the motivations of the Boston Marathon attack.
