Calif. Newspaper Taking Heat Over This Controversial Cartoon That Politicizes Deadly West, Texas Explosion
April 26, 2013
"Poking fun at the deaths of first responders is NEVER acceptable."
The Sacramento Bee on Thursday published a shocking cartoon that depicts the deadly explosion at a West, Texas fertilizer plant alongside Republican Gov. Rick Perry saying, "business is booming in Texas." The cartoon links the Lone Star State's low tax, low regulation policies to the explosion that killed at least 15 people.
The controversial cartoon was created by Sacramento Bee editorial cartoonist Jack Ohman.
The cartoon has sparked outrage among those who believe the cartoon is offensive and disrespectful to the victims of the tragedy.
