Airport officials stop guy smuggling... dead chickens

The Customs & Border Protection agents at DC's Dulles Airport have turned up some odd things, including heroin trafficked in a woman's stomach. But their latest haul might be the weirdest yet:

Customs and Border Protectionofficials say a passenger arriving from Vietnam was found with a cooler full of raw black chickens at Dulles International Airport on April 22.

According to officials, agriculture specialists found two bags containing a total of 20 small raw chickens inside the cooler the man claimed as luggage. Officials say the chickens were fully intact, but de-feathered, with dark-bluish-grey to blackened skin and feet. Officers took the Chinese Silkies, which are black chickens, and incinerated them.

So... the CBP had an office BBQ?

Officials said in a press release on Thursday that "raw poultry from regions where highly pathogenic avian influenza, Exotic Newcastle disease or other fowl diseases have been known to occur are prohibited from importing to the United States without a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) permit."

See the bizarre find after the jump.  Warning: the picture (via WUSA) is pretty gross.
