Geraldo says no one at Fox News ever cut his mic

The New York Times on Monday previewed an upcoming book on the 2012 presidential election by Jonathan Alter, a Bloomberg View columnist and MSNBC contributor. The book reports that just before election day, Fox News CEO Roger Ailes personally ordered producers to muzzle Geraldo Rivera, who anchors his own program on the network, after he accused (on air) his colleague Eric Bolling of politicizing the Benghazi attack.

From the Times:

“After the argument continued for several minutes, Ailes called the control room and told the producers to cut Rivera’s mic,” Mr. Alter writes.

Rivera tweeted Monday in response: "Contrary to published accounts no one at Fox News ever either cut my mic or told me what to say But I do advocate cutting Eric Bolling's mic."

And to that, Alter replied, "So why didn't your office deny it when I called a couple of months ago to ask?"

Rivera has not answered Alter as of yet.
