Egyptian troops moved in to secure the state TV newsroom studios in Cairo Wednesday, on the cusp of a military ultimatum to push President Mohammed Morsi out of office.

Reuters reported troops with armored vehicles secured the central studios in Cairo. Staffers not directly involved in working the broadcasts left the building, sources said.

The Associated Press reported officers from the military's media department had moved "inside the newsroom and were monitoring output, though not yet interfering."

The state-run TV had largely been favorable to the Muslim Brotherhood government, but in the last two days has already seen a shift to more balanced coverage of the anti-Morsi protests, according to the AP.
