New York Times Suffers Another Outage After 'Malicious External Attack' (UPDATE: Twitter, HuffPost UK Also Compromised?)

UPDATE: The Syrian Electronic Army claims to have taken control of Twitter.com domain registration as well as HuffPost UK:

For the second time in two weeks, the New York Times' website experienced an outage.

Although the first problem existed for a significant length of time and was chalked up to be the result of a "scheduled maintenance update," this latest outage, occurring Tuesday afternoon, is said to be a purposeful attack. The site was not down for long and appears to be functioning at the time of this posting.

There was speculation that the Syrian Electronic Army was behind the cyber attack:

On August 14, the New York Times' website, its corporate site and email services went down for a couple hours. The Times turned to social media to keep up with timely news.
