"Allahu Akbar!"

New video posted to YouTube purportedly shows Syrian rebel fighters celebrating ecstatically after shooting down a Syrian Air Force jet Monday.

The video taken by rebel activists shows a large explosion in the distance, with gray smoke mushrooming skyward. Men and children are seen raising pieces of what appear to be the wreckage and celebrating as gunfire is heard nearby. They shout celebratory cries of “Allahu Akbar,” or God is the greatest, at the apparently successful shoot-down.

In a second video, which can be seen below, rebel fighters rummage through the smoky rubble, pulling metal pieces from the ground, which appear to be parts of the wreckage.

TheBlaze is unable to verify the videos, but Reuters reported the jet went down in the eastern Syrian city of Deir al-Zor

Reuters reported that another online video reportedly shows parts of a Russian manufactured MIG jet.  In that video, Russian writing is visible on some of the metal pieces, according to Reuters.

More than 100,000 are believed to have been killed in the Syrian civil war that has been raging since the spring of 2011. President Barack Obama has asked Congress to approve a military strike against President Bashar Assad’s forces, whom the United States blames for a chemical weapons attack that killed more than 1,400 last month.
