Suicide or Treason': Beck Floored That 'We Are Being Asked to Throw in With Al Qaeda on September 11th

"How dead inside does he think we are to ask us to go along with it on the eve of September 11th?"

Glenn Beck reacted somberly to President Barack Obama's much anticipated speech on the conflict in Syria Tuesday night, beginning his morning radio program Wednesday with a reminder of how much we've changed in just 12 years.

"I remember how many of us used to have bumper stickers on our car that said 'never forget,' yet last night the president of the United States asked this country to back military action where our coalition would be made up of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al‑Qaeda," he said. "Never forget. Would we have allowed ourselves to fight in Japan with the Nazis?"

Beck said he had dinner last night with his "New York liberal Jewish friends," people with whom he would talk about "pantyhose sizing" before politics because they agree on absolutely nothing, but his friends were discussing impeachment.

"My question to you -- and it should be the question on every American's lips today -- do you remember when we all stood together arm in arm on September 11th, do you remember how fragile this country seemed?" Beck asked. "Do you remember the feeling at about this time of the day thinking, 'We're at war. Our life is going to change. What does this mean?' Do you remember going home at night with your children, crying, trying to put on a strong face for them, holding them close to you?"

He continued: "If you can remember that, ask yourself: How is it we are even having a conversation about going to war and supporting Al Qaeda? A year ago our president said Al Qaeda was done. We are now going to fight for them?"

After a commercial break, Beck came back saying he could not believe the president had the "arrogance" to make such a speech to the American people.

"To look at the American people as such sheep and dummies, to think that we could digest his speech as a body politic today on the day of September 11th, and come up with anything other than this guy is asking us to really commit suicide or treason..." he said.  "We are being asked to throw in with Al Qaeda on September 11th. It's the height of arrogance."

"And as my liberal friend said last night, any other president the Democrats would have impeached by now," he continued. "And I have to tell you: If he actually does this, I am officially for impeachment because this is craziness. This is absolute craziness..."

Beck went a step further at the end of the hour: "Somebody should get the dictionary out for 'treason,' because I'm pretty sure there has to be several witnesses to someone aiding and abetting the enemy of the United States. They keep telling us that Islam is not our enemy, that it is Al Qaeda... [then] how are we seriously being asked to aid and abet the enemy of the United States of America? How's that possible?...How dead inside does he think we are to ask us to go along with it on the eve of September 11th?"

"I guess we'll find out," Beck concluded. "Because if America isn't up in if arms...which side do you stand on? And what are you willing to do? Are you willing to stand up and start a peace movement? Are you willing to stand up and say 'Enough is enough'? I know we've done it before and you don't think that it works, but the only reason why it doesn't work is because you've given up!"

"Healthcare is one thing, but siding on the side of Al Qaeda -- and being asked to do it on the eve of September 11th -- is a whole different ball game," he concluded.
