This Is What an NHL Player's Face Looked Like After Another Player Broke His Jaw

"Excited to come back stronger and hopefully better looking than a few days ago."

NHL player Sam Gagner turned to Twitter Monday night to post a graphic photo of how his jaw looked following an incident during a preseason game on Saturday where he was struck in the face with a hockey stick.

The Edmonton Oilers center can be seen in the photo with several teeth dislodged and a severely swollen face. According to the Edmonton Journal, Gagner's jaw was broken in two places and will take six-to-eight weeks to heel.

The damage was the result of Gagner taking a blow to the face from Vancouver Canucks winger Zach Kassian.

The entire incident, caught on video, has resulted in the suspension of Kassian for the first five games of the regular season as a result for intentional "high sticking."
