What One Thing Has Michele Bachmann Thinking We're in 'God's End Times History'?

"Rather than seeing this as a negative, we need to rejoice..."

Over the weekend, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) accused President Barack Obama of arming Al Qaeda in Syria -- a bold claim that she says is evidence that we're in "God's End Times history."

In an interview with Christian radio host Jan Markell on Saturday, the congressman appeared on the show "Understanding the Times" and openly discussed how current events reinforce her Biblical worldview.

"This happened and as of today the United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists," Bachmann said. "Now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God’s End Times history."

She went on to say that Obama has waived a ban on arming extremists and is allowing weapons to go to the rebels and added that this, in her view, essentially amounts to U.S. taxpayers "paying to give arms to terrorists including Al Qaeda."

It seems Bachmann was referring to a program in which weapons have been given to the rebels to help bolster their battle against the Syrian regime. She explicitly mentioned that Obama recently waived some of the restrictions under the Arms Export Control Act.

While true, this move was one purportedly aimed at bringing non-lethal tools to Syria that would protect residents against chemical attacks (weapons are, however, also being given as well and the CIA is reportedly ramping up efforts to train moderate rebels).

As for her End Times claim, Bachmann said that Christians should "rejoice" and not have fear.

"Rather than seeing this as a negative, we need to rejoice, Maranatha Come Lord Jesus, His day is at hand," the congresswoman said. "When we see up is down and right is called wrong, when this is happening, we were told this; these days would be as the days of Noah."

Listen to this portion of her interview, below:

Bachmann went on to discuss the growth of mosques in America and the ever-contentious immigration issue.

"In my opinion, I think we should be hitting the pause button on immigration and on refugee resettlement," she said.

Bachmann's comments were first reported by Right Wing Watch.

She is not the first to express concerns over radicals among rebel factions. Analysts have warned that Al Qaeda affiliates are, indeed, among opposition forces.
