"Promise me, no more daredevil stuff."

Those are some of the last words Paul Walker's father said to his son before he was killed in a fiery car accident.

Paul Walker's father revealed to E! Online that he pleaded with his “Fast & Furious” star son to get over his self-confessed adrenaline addiction, and the elder Walker said he agreed.

Walker was killed last Saturday when the Porsche in which he was a passenger smashed into a light pole and tree north of Los Angeles and exploded into flames. The vehicle was driven by Walker's friend Roger Rodas, who was also killed in the accident.

Walker's father recalled saying, "Promise me, no more daredevil stuff," noting that he added, "If in your heart, you say, 'I can do this,' then by all means, do it. If your mind says, 'Maybe not,' then don't."

He said he looked at his son and asked, "Will you promise me that?" adding that "a promise is a really important thing here, Paul." In the videotaped interview, the elder Walker indicates that his son nodded in agreement. But that wasn't good enough.

"Say OK," his dad recalled, pushing Walker for the words. "And he said, 'OK.'"

"You know, a lot of us, sometimes we make promises and get caught up in the moment and stuff like that, but I can tell I got to him," the elder Walker noted in the interview, indicating that his son could tell he was "serious."

The late actor was asked in a 2009 interview if he ever got scared, and Walker's answer was quite revealing.

“I’m not afraid of anything. That’s just the way I am. That’s the way my grandfather was. He used to race cars and he had the first 160-mile-per-hour Ford Falcon in the San Fernando valley. And my dad was a two-time Golden Gloves winner, and now he’s into downhill mountain biking and white water rafting. I guess you could say I come from a family of thrill seekers.”

Walker's father noted in a touching moment that his son would have been uncomfortable with all the attention his death generated, as well as fame in general.

"It was embarrassing to him," his father said. "I thought last night, 'Paul would be so embarrassed of this.' And I looked up at the sky, and I said, 'Well, tough luck pal.'"
