YouTube Personality Carries Out Insanely Elaborate Prank in Bid to Get Friend to Stop Drinking and Driving

A popular YouTube prankster staged an elaborate stunt on one of his friends after he says the man with several previous alcohol related arrests was found passed out drunk in his truck.

The Internet jokester, Tom Mabe, morphed an office into a hospital room and used a team of actors to convince his friend — identified only as Dennis — that he had been in a coma for 10 years after being involved in a car accident.

In the video, Dennis wakes up to a "nurse" in the room. She tells him he is alright and that she will get a doctor.

"Buddy, great to see you. You have no idea. Listen, I'm Dr. James," he says. "I know you are confused a little disoriented. You probably have a lot of questions and don't know what's going on."

"Sometime ago you decided ... you was drinking ... you was out drinking and you decided to drive and there was an accident," the doctor continues. "You have been with us for sometime."

"This accident took place back in 2013. It's 2023. You've been in a coma for the past 10 years," he adds.

The doctor then leaves the room to retrieve a colleague. During this time, several fake news reports are played on a TV in the room. One indicates that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been elected president.

"President Hillary Clinton has vowed to attack Canada if the nation does not stop granting citizenship to Americans who flee the U.S. due to the mandatory Clinton hair care program," the mock news report said.

Finally, a third medical professional enters the room and starts performing a series of tests to see if Dennis can feel his feet. Eventually, the supposed doctor slaps him across the face and pulls off his surgical mask. Dennis laughs as he realizes he has been pranked.

Though some viewers have noted that Dennis didn't appear very drunk in the video, Mabe told TheBlaze that he most certainly was.

"He was out of it. He was so drunk he wouldn't recognize me until I started laughing at him," Mabe said.

Mabe added that the video is "100 percent real."

"Dennis makes Forrest Gump look like Einstein," he said. "He actually has 7 DUIs, he drives without his license, and past few years he's been in jail more than he's been out of jail."

"He would deserve an Oscar for his performance if it was fake," Mabe added.

At the time of publication, the video had just over 1 million views.

There are still skeptics who aren't entirely convinced that the man was unable to put the pieces together and realize he was being pranked -- or that he wasn't in on it from the beginning. Are you one of them?
