Remember the Orphan Who Delivered Heartbreaking Plea to a Church Congregation? There's a Major Update

"I’ll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care..."

Remember Davion Only, the 15-year-old orphan who captured national attention after appearing before a Florida church and pleading for a "forever family" to adopt him?

That heartbreaking appeal to the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church congregation in St. Petersburg, Fla., in September didn't directly yield a family for the teen, though the resulting media coverage created monumental buzz.

Now, three months later, The Daily Mail is reporting that Only will spend Christmas with a loving foster family this year -- a family that may end up officially adopting the teen.

"Davion has moved from his group home placement at Carlton Manor to a foster home where he is enjoying getting to know the family," a spokesperson for Eckerd, the adoption agency that handles his case, told The Daily Mail. "Davion is excited to be spending the holidays with a perspective adoptive family."

This development will likely be welcomed by millions who were inspired and touched by Only's story, which they learned about after local media reported on his plight.

"My name is Davion and I’ve been in foster care since I was born … I know God hasn’t given up on me,” he told the church congregation. “So I’m not giving up either.”

Davion turned to the house of worship after consulting with his caseworker, Connie Going, in hopes that he would be able to find a permanent home among the hundreds of congregants.

Little did he know that a national outpouring of support would result from his passionate speech.

In addressing parishioners, the teen expressed his desperation to leave the group home where he has resided.

"I’ll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care," the boy said. "And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be."

Now, his wish may become a reality.

The prospective adoptive family was found after emails and phone calls flooded into Eckerd, with people across the nation expressing their willingness to adopt the young boy.

The Daily Mail also reported that Only has had contact with his biological relatives -- many of whom want to play a role in his life.

There's no telling where the story will end, though the latest development is certainly uplifting.
