Think Ted Cruz Is Colorful? Children's Coloring Book on Tea Party Senator Is a Best-Seller

The first-term Texas Republican senator is the subject of “Cruz to the Future: Comic Coloring Activity Book” and it's selling fast, offering kids of "all ages" the chance to fill in various scenes of the Tea Party firebrand in action. It was ranked No. 1 in Amazon's children's coloring books category as of Friday morning.

“The 'Cruz to the Future' book is a non-partisan, fact-driven view of how Texas Sen. Rafael Edward Ted Cruz became a U.S. senator and details, through his quotes and public information his ideas for what he believes will help America grow,” reads the Amazon description of the book. “Cruz has openly identifies with the Tea Party and garners support from the Republican Liberty Caucus and many independents including Democrats.”

Cruz was not involved in the publishing of the coloring book.

Its publisher, Really Big Coloring Books Inc., previously published a coloring book about the 9/11 attacks and a book about the Tea Party.

The Cruz coloring book is in its third printing, the publisher said. The first printing, with 10,000 copies, sold out in 24 hours.

The publisher's description of the book is part of the company's “Tell the Truth – Tell it Often – Tell the Children” series, and says the coloring book can be used in schools because it is entirely fact based, acknowledging that Cruz is looked upon in “adoration and abomination.”

“The 'Cruz to the Future' coloring book is suitable for any student desk in America, as millions of people across the country admire, respect and portray Mr. Cruz as a positive role model for children,” publisher Wayne Bell said in the Amazon description. “Parents have told our company they enjoy modern day heroes and positive role models in children's literature and Mr. Cruz as a sitting U.S. senator certainly meets the criteria.”
