Facebook Post Saves Woman Allegedly Held Captive for Six Months

"I wish I would have never listened to him to beg me to come back."

A desperate Minnesota woman, who says her ex-boyfriend held her against her will for six months, was able to access Facebook at the library over the weekend and issue a cry for help.

“He finally pushed me for the last time,” Sheena Herschbach, 26, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I just said the heck with it. I went to the library, went online and talked to my sister.”

WXIX-TV reported that this was the one time her alleged captor let her leave, thinking she was going to get beer.

Herschbach was found in a Nevada motel Saturday by Mesquite Police with her ex-bodyfriend, 34-year-old Jason Greniger. Police launched an investigation and determined Herschbach was held against her will and allegedly endured and was threatened with physical abuse, a statement from police read.

Greniger was arrested for felony second degree kidnapping, in addition to an outstanding warrant in Minnesota.

To the Review-Journal, Herschbach explained that she had been with Greniger since 2009. The couple has three children together, who are in permanent foster care, after Greniger pleaded guilty to physically abusing them.

Even though Herschbach had a restraining order against Greniger and moved to California at one point, she told the newspaper he followed her and convinced her to come back to him.

"He thought we were together,” Herschbach told the Review-Journal. “If I said anything, he threatened to hurt me, so I didn’t for a long time.”

Herschbach hadn't spoken to her family in months. She only just found out, since being freed, that her mother died in December.

"I was already stressed out. I then come to find out my mom passed away a month ago and it just put me down more. I wish I would have never listened to him to beg me to come back," Herschbach said, according to WXIX.

Herschbach has a message for other women.

"If they're in a relationship and if their spouse or boyfriend is hurting them, get out. It's not worth the pain," she told the news station.
