Texas High School Coach Fired Over Filming Up Skirts of Students at Catholic School

A Texas high school assistant football coach at a local high school was fired after being accused of secretly making 'up-skirt' video recordings of students with his phone.

KHOU-TV reported Larry Ruiz, an assistant football coach at Antonian College Preparatory High School, was confronted by school administrators after students accused Ruiz of placing his cellphone on the floor and recording video up their skirts.

High school administration officials said when they pulled Ruiz, 28, in for questioning, he admitted to the allegations.

"When we spoke to him, he acknowledged that that was true, at which time we dismissed him," Antonian Principal Gilbert Saenz told KENS 5.

A warrant was being drawn up Thursday afternoon to obtain Ruiz's cellphone, according to the Castle Hills Police Department. Castle Hills police attempted to take Ruiz into custody Wednesday night after being briefed on the case; however, that attempt was unsuccessful, law-enforcement officials said.

So far, no charges have been filed against Ruiz.

Antonian Vice Principal Steve Hayward spoke to TheBlaze, and said the entire incident has been handed over to the police, and the school is trying to get back to normal.

"We had class meetings with each grade level ... we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to speak with counselors if they wanted to," Hayward said. "It has affected some people more than others, so we are working with them. But we are in the process of moving past it."

As of 5 p.m. Feb 28, Ruiz's picture was still on the Antonian College Preparatory School's website.

Antonian has an enrollment of nearly 780 students in grades 9 through 12; students are required to wear a uniform to attend school the co-educational Archdiocesan school.  A spokesman for Parker uniforms, the supplier for Antonian uniforms, said the girls "almost always" wear skirts at the school, but that they do have a pants option.

When asked how the public can support the students throughout the difficult situation, Hayward said "they can pray for us, we always need that."
