Incredible Photos Show Otter Attacking an Alligator -- and Then Eating It

In a series of incredible photos, an otter is seen successfully preying on an alligator in Florida’s Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. The images were posted on Facebook by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service earlier this week.

The Huffington Post has the backstory:

According to a caption posted with the photos, the otter eventually pulled the juvenile gator up onto a bank and began chomping on it "as evidenced by crunching noises." The animals usually weight between 10 and 20 pounds and generally feed on slow-moving fishes and crustaceans, but can also consume amphibians and reptiles. The post also notes that despite their cute and fluffy appearance, otters are often the apex predator in many freshwater habitats, meaning they have no natural predators of their own. Yum.
