Glenn Beck Says Something Remarkable Happened Before His Father Passed Away: 'They Were Escorts

"Yes? OK. I understand. I'm ready. Take me with you."

Glenn Beck's father passed away over the weekend at the age of 86, and Beck said on his radio program Monday that something remarkable happened just before he died.

"My father didn't -- he believed in God, but he didn't believe in -- I don't even know," Beck said, struggling to describe his father's beliefs. "My sisters had told him several times, 'Dad, unless you accept Jesus as your savior, you're going someplace warm.' And he had always rejected that."

Beck said he just asked his father to "keep an open mind" when the time came, and his father promised him he would.

"My father slipped in and out of consciousness for a while," Beck recalled. "And then he sat up in bed, looked up at the ceiling corner as if someone was there, and he said, 'Yes? OK. I understand. I'm ready. Take me with you.' And he closed his eyes."

Beck fought back tears as he continued: "[My father] told me once, 'Son, I'll keep an open mind but I will tell you this: I don't think there's going to be angels that are going to come down and greet me.' I told him at the time I begged to differ."

Beck said he believes his father didn't just see "greeters;" he saw "escorts."

"God lives," Beck said. "And it is all true. Thanks, dad, for teaching me how to work, for not teaching me what to think, but how to think, and when you were dead tired, thank you for driving your boy to the radio station to pursue his dream."
