He Went to the Lake & Snapped 11 Stunning Photographs Showing Firefly Light Trails in a Way You've Never Seen Before

"I've always enjoyed photographing small creatures and fireflies are pretty much the coolest..."

A photographer with an affinity for snapping pictures of small creatures captured a series of stunning photographs showing fireflies at a lake in Missouri.

"While visiting Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri in the early summer it's impossible not to notice the raging bioluminescence disco party going on around you," Vincent Brady told TheBlaze. "I've always enjoyed photographing small creatures, and fireflies are pretty much the coolest — especially in mass numbers."

The photos, published to his Facebook page, were inspired by some of his previous work, which included "shooting long exposures of startrails, stacked images over several hours that show the stars streaking in the sky," Brady said.

"I used the same concept here of stacking long exposure shots together over several hours. Of course many people who grew up in the Midwest or out east have a special nostalgia [for] when they were a kid chasing fireflies. I tried to apply all of this — fireflies, space, and imagination — into these."
