The battle of her little life and how she fought to overcome

"Her organs began to shut down, she had to be placed on dialysis and much more."

"No parent ever wants to hear their child has cancer, but on September 6, 2011, those devastating words became a nightmare to our family."

Those are the words from Michelle Strohl, who sent her picture into TheBlaze Best Moments regarding her six-year-old daughter who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia-hypodiploid.

"She immediately started chemotherapy the next day," writes Michelle. "After the first round of chemo treatments, my daughter didn't go into remission like most children do. Her doctor determined she would need a more aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan and a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible."

Five months later, Michelle says, her daughter was admitted for "total body radiation, very aggressive chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant."

She continues with her story -- but it has a happy ending:

The bone marrow transplant was very rough on her body, causing excessive swelling of her airway and leading her to be placed on a ventilator. Her organs began to shut down, she had to be placed on dialysis and much more. She was moved to ICU for two and a half weeks. It took over two months for her transplant to be accepted to her body, but finally the transplant was successful! After three and a half months in the hospital my daughter built the strength up to walk to the the bell and ring it signifying no more chemotherapy!!!! Her bone marrow transplant was a success and she was finally cancer free! [Emphasis added]
