Things got a little awkward briefly during the D-Day 70th anniversary ceremony in Ouistreham, France, on Friday when a TV producer decided to put President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin side-by-side on the big screen.

As you can hear in the video below, the crowd reacts loudly to the pairing. It’s hard to tell for sure if the crowd was simply expressing surprise that the two were shown side by side amid the tensions between the U.S. and Russia, or if there were possibly some boos.

Both of the men smiled and the event quickly returned its focus to honoring D-Day veterans.
