Mother Charged with Imprisoning Kids in 'Horror Story' Room...While She Smoked Weed Every Day
June 14, 2014
"It was like a prison cell, except worse because there was no toilet or running water in the room."
Inside an unassuming house in Tacoma, Washington, police made a horrific discovery behind a locked door: three small boys, ages 2, 3 and 6, naked and living in feces and urine.

"The children were filthy, they did not have good verbal skills, two of them were naked and one of them was in soiled underwear and that's all," Pierce County prosecutor Mark Lindquist told KOMO-TV. "We don't see cases this grim very often."
Police only checked out the home after receiving a 911 call about the children.
According to police, the boys' mother, 26-year-old Tasha Noel Herndon, actively neglected the children while smoking weed every day.

"She fed them, barely, through a slot in the door," Lindquist said. "It was like a prison cell, except worse because there was no toilet or running water in the room."
Herndon has been charged with three counts of criminal mistreatment and three count of unlawful imprisonment.
She has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $300,000 bond.
"It's a horror story," said one of Herndon's neighbors. "It's something awful and terrible to hear about."
According to KOMO-TV, the three boys were taken to a hospital and are now doing fine in protective custody.
