What Motorists Saw in the Middle of Traffic Was So Shocking Some Thought It Was a Prank
July 13, 2014
The coroner’s office “deeply regrets” the incident.
In the middle of Friday's lunchtime traffic crunch, drivers found themselves maneuvering around a road hazard they won't soon forget.
A dead body on a gurney fell from a coroner’s van when a door malfunctioned, sending the corpse into the busy suburban Philadelphia roadway, the Associated Press reported.
Philly.com noted a photo posted on Facebook by Bucks County resident Jerry Bradley showing the corpse wrapped in what appears to be a white sheet, lying on a gurney in the street as cars go by.
The mishap occurred around noon near a shopping center in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, according to the Bucks County Courier Times.
The driver realized immediately that the door had opened and retrieved the body within minutes, the Bucks County Coroner’s Office said, adding that it “deeply regrets” the incident.
A passer-by who helped get the body into the van says he thought it was a prank, the AP reported, calling it “the most bizarre thing” he’d ever seen.
