Jon Stewart Is Mocking Obama's Comments on the Russia-Ukraine Crisis — See Why
September 04, 2014
"I know what this is, he's slow talking! You're trying to run out the rest of your term."
Comedian Jon Stewart tackled the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine Wednesday night, poking fun at President Barack Obama's recent comments about the situation.
Stewart aired a clip of a speech Obama delivered yesterday, subsequently mocking the pace at which the commander in chief spoke about Russia's actions. As Mediaite noted, the president's comments "seemed to be really… extremely… rather strikingly… slow."
And that's exactly the point Stewart seized upon.
"Can you pick up the pace buddy, the world's blowing up — maybe move things along a little bit," he said. "I know what this is, he's slow talking! You're trying to run out the rest of your term."
Stewart continued, "You pick up the pace, Mr. President, or we're going to have to put a shot clock on you."
After adding a digital countdown to additional footage of Obama's address, the buzzer quickly ran out before the president could finish his remarks, with Stewart adding in a few additional jabs.
