If you like sci-fi, you could spend hours poring over this gorgeous, enormous spaceship chart

Let's face it: When it comes to intergalactic warfare, size matters, and while humanity may have only taken a few baby steps into outer space in real life, we've dreamed up plenty of monster spacecraft.

Now we can see how those ships stack up against each other.

Artist Dirk Loechel has boldly gone where no one has gone before, bringing together more sci-fi spaceships than you can shake a lightsaber at in one gargantuan size comparison chart (posted here on DeviantArt).

The upper portion of the chart is almost entirely devoted to "Star Wars" ships, with a tiny box surrounding the real-world International Space Station.

Vehicles from the campy British sci-fi series "Doctor Who" take up a chunk of real estate next to ships from such varied fare as "Starship Troopers," the anime "Cowboy Bebop," kids' movie "Monsters vs. Aliens" and the video game series "Sonic the Hedgehog."

Elsewhere the chart depicts iconic ships from "Galaxy Quest," "WALL-E," "Futurama" and, of course, the Discovery One from "2001: A Space Odyssey"
