Is the Car You Drive More Likely to Lead to a Ticket? Survey Says...

It's the age-old question for anyone looking back at those dreaded flashing lights: "Is there a problem, officer?"

According to one survey, the problem could be the type of care you drive.

Insurance.com ranked the top 20 cars "most likely" to get a ticket in what it dubbed the "ticket magnet" list. The results suggest the number of tickets drivers get isn't necessarily tied to the amount of horsepower their cars get. In fact, the rankings suggest the opposite.

“It’s not about horsepower,”said Insurance.com managing editor Des Toups. But, because cars with a lot of horsepower tend to be more expensive, "their buyers tend to be older and take fewer risks."

Insurance.com, an insurance comparison tool, analyzed quotes from 557,238 drivers from Jan. 1, 2013 to July 2014. The website only counted models for which drivers requested 50 or more quotes.

The percentages are based on responses from people who owned that model car and reported getting ticketed for a traffic violation when seeking an insurance quote.
