Vice President Joe Biden told a group of South Carolina black clergy that he was the “the only white boy on the east side of Wilmington” when he worked as a young public defender in Delaware, CNN reported.

Biden had a closed-door meeting Tuesday with the pastors in a key presidential primary state. Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) attended the meeting with him. CNN reported it received details of Biden's remarks from someone in the meeting.
Biden told the gathering that he “got 98 percent of the African-American vote every time I ran" for the U.S. Senate in Delaware.
During the meeting, Biden pushed the importance of getting the black vote out for Democrats in the November midterm elections.
Reiterating his past comments about the state of the Republican Party, Biden called the Tea Party “crazy” and said a Republican Senate would lead to nothing but obstruction.
“This is not your father's Republican Party,” he said, according to CNN. “This is a different breed of cat, man. I am not making a moral judgment, but I will tell you that they have no judgment.”
