A Grandson's Fortunate Find Results In an 'Emotional Reunion'

"Ventura, the animal has been extracted."

Tinkerbell was thought to have been lost after a devastating mudslide in Camarillo Springs, California Saturday – until a fortunate find reunited the dog with its thankful owners.

The owners were trapped inside their home during the mudslide but later rescued by firefighters. The husband and wife weren't injured but the man feared the worst for his dog.

A day and half later, a grandson who was visiting from Arizona spotted movement inside the home and called the Ventura County Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to rescue the mud-soaked Dachshund.

"Ventura, the animal has been extracted," Captain Pete Jensen of the Ventura County Fire Department said.

It turned out Tinkerbell had been sitting in the window of the home to escape the two feet covering the floor.

The dog was reunited with one of its owners Monday in what authorities described as an "emotional reunion:"
