This Is How Officials Cleaned Up the More Than 1 Ton of Confetti That Fell on Times Square Last Night

After everyone leaves, the cleanup begins.

Officials estimate more than 1 ton of confetti rained down on Times Square during New Year's Eve celebrations last night — and it all had to be cleaned up.

After the "confetti master" unleashed the colorful pieces of paper on about 1 million revelers, 178 sanitation workers started the process of cleaning up, Mashable reported, citing the City of New York Department of Sanitation.

The nearly 200 workers used 26 mechanical brooms, 25 trucks, 38 leaf blowers and other equipment to quickly clean up the large mess, city officials said.

Last year, the sanitation team cleaned up approximately 52.3 tons of trash, Mashable reported.
