What a TV Star Did on Live TV Caught Everyone Off Guard — but There's a Catch

"Alcohol kills everything."

Bravo's evening talk show "Watch What Happens Live" is typically lighthearted, but the set seemingly turned tense and uncomfortable Tuesday night when a joke about an STD sparked a battle between two reality show stars.

Brandi Glanville, star of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and a current contestant on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" ended up tossing wine at fellow guest Jeff Lewis, star of Bravo's "Flipping Out," before seemingly breaking down in tears on-air, according to US Magazine.

But while the incredibly awkward encounter seemed genuinely painful to watch, Glanville tweeted after the show that the entire scenario was staged in an effort to trick host Andy Cohen.

"People @JLJeffLewis & I were joking! We are good friends! I turned around cuz I couldn't stop laughing we wanted to fool Andy!" she wrote. "Just getting back to my hotel - It was just jokes for @Andy sake although @JLJeffLewis might have deserved it!"

She added in a third tweet, "It was a PRANK!"

But video from the evening — including footage from the "Watch What Happens Live After Show" published on the network's website — doesn't appear to show Glanville and Lewis describing the incident as a prank; instead, they hash through the disagreement and appear to reconcile.

The initial clash unfolded during the episode that aired on Bravo when Glanville and Lewis got into a verbal scuffle after host Andy Cohen read a question from a viewer that asked if Glanville would be willing to run her fingers through Lewis' hair to ensure that he wasn't wearing a toupee.

"Can I get an STD from that?" Lewis joked.

It quickly became evident that Glanville didn't appreciate his quip, responding, "You better check your mother f — self."

Then, a little bit later, she made another proclamation before tossing her glass of wine on Lewis: "As long as we wet [your hair], I think we'll be fine."

"Now, no STDs. You're good," Glanville said to a seemingly stunned Lewis. "Alcohol kills everything."

When Cohen proceeded to ask questions about the surprising on-air clash, Glanville said she was so upset that she couldn't talk about it before appearing to break down in tears and turn her chair around so that the audience couldn't see her face; this is the point at which Glanville said in later tweets that she was hiding her purported laughter.

"I'm taking five," she said through apparent tears, telling Lewis not to touch her when he tried to apologize and comfort her.

Cohen had some tweets of his own about the evening as well:

It's unclear whether Glanville was actually upset or whether it was a prank, though the Daily Mail reported last year that the STD subject might be sensitive based on a claim about her ex-husband that she reportedly made in her latest book, "Drinking and Dating."

Bravo declined to comment to TheBlaze on the purported spat between Glanville and Lewis.
