‘Disgusting Biased Rag’: The New York Daily News Front Page That Has Conservatives Up in Arms

The New York Daily News published a cover Tuesday aimed at slamming Senate Republicans for sending a letter to Iran about current nuclear negotiations.

Blaring "TRAITORS' across its front page, the liberal Daily News accused Republicans of trying to "sabotage" President Barack Obama's ongoing talks with the Islamic Republic about their nuclear program.

"These 47 Republican U.S. senators have engaged in treachery," a tweet from the tabloid said.

Here is an excerpt of the editorial:

Regardless of President Obama’s fecklessness in negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran, 47 Republican U.S. senators engaged in treachery by sending a letter to the mullahs aimed at cutting the legs out from under America’s commander-in-chief.

We join GOP signatories in opposing the pact as outlined, but we strenuously condemn their betrayal of the U.S. constitutional system.

The participants represented the bulk of the Republicans’ 54-member senatorial majority, vesting their petulant, condescending stunt with the coloration of an institutional foreign policy statement.

They are an embarrassment to the Senate and to the nation.

The Daily News was referencing a letter sent by almost half the U.S. Senate and nearly every Republican Monday, warning Iran that Congress must also approve international treaties.

The letter — also blasted by Vice President Joe Biden — cautioned the Islamic Republic that a deal only agreed upon by President Barack Obama could be overturned by a following administration.

Immediately after tweeting the cover story, individuals turned to Twitter to hit back at the Daily News.
