Business Owner Behind Viral Sign Outside Hillary Clinton's NY Home Tells TheBlaze Why the Email Scandal 'Matters

"We need honesty and transparency in our elected officials."

A business owner in Chappaqua, New York, made headlines on Friday when he posted a “for sale” sign near former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s home advertising a “used email server” with a “clean hard drive.” Interested buyers were instructed to “see Bill.”

Gary Murphy, who lives in the neighborhood where Clinton’s Chappaqua home is located, told TheBlaze why he posted the funny sign and said the email scandal "matters" and shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

Clinton has come under fire since it emerged that she exclusively used private email addresses during her time as secretary of state. She reportedly sent and received roughly 60,000 emails during that time, but deleted about half of them because they were “personal.”

“We need honesty and transparency in our elected officials,” Murphy, who runs a company that offers maid service, told TheBlaze. “Hillary Clinton’s performance at her press conference illustrated that she brings neither to the table for the American people. The arrogance she displayed was jaw-dropping.”

While the sign was meant to be a joke, he said the joked is rooted in reality. Also “troubling,” the business owner said, is the fact that Clinton has displayed a pattern of behavior that suggests “she is above the law.”

Murphy continued: “Her explanation for the private email system was that she put her personal convenience of wanting to carry only one cell phones over national security. I believe that she put her political ambitions and need for secrecy over national security and best interest of the country.”

"She still refuses to have an outside party look into her correspondence or allowing experts to ensure the contents on her private email server have not been compromised," he added.

Murphy said he is just one of many American who isn’t buying Clinton’s email excuses.
