Let Them Loot, It's Only Property': LEO Source Claims Baltimore Mayor Ordered Cops to Stand Down
April 29, 2015
A senior law enforcement source told Fox News that Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake ordered police officers to stand by and watch the looting Monday.
"Let them loot, it's only property," Rawlings-Blake said, according to Fox News' source.
When the source was asked directly if that order came from the mayor, he replied: "You are goddamn right it was."
Representatives for the Baltimore mayor did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze, but the mayor denied the claim in an interview with Fox News.
"So there was no order to hold back?" host Bill Hemmer asked Rawlings-Blake.
"No," she replied. "But you have to understand, it's not holding back. It's responding appropriately."
Despite the mayor's denial to the network, Fox News said its law enforcement source was standing by his claim.
Many did wonder why law enforcement did not immediately respond to the widespread looting that occurred Monday. At the time, officials said preserving life was their top priority.
