A cellphone video posted on Facebook Saturday apparently shows two New York City police officers surrounded by four people in the middle of a street and then assaulted as onlookers hoot and holler.

The pair of officers, apparently a man and woman, seem to have been attempting to detain or arrest a woman while two men and another woman intervene.
One of the intervening men dressed in a white shirt with stripes was seen throwing at least four punches at the officers during the 36-second clip.

The woman the police are focused on protested loudly and was seen grabbing the wrist of one officer as the other officer looked to be radioing for help.

The officers didn't appear to use any force against their assailants.
