Surveillance Footage Captures Moment Suspect Pulled Gun From Waistband in Ferguson Shooting: Police

The St. Louis County Police Department on Tuesday released video it says shows suspect Tyrone Harris, 18, pull a firearm from his waistband in relation to Sunday night's Ferguson shooting.

The surveillance footage, captured by a local business' security camera, shows a crowd scramble after shots rang out during protests on the one-year anniversary of Michael Brown's death. The shots were fired after looting took place moments earlier, authorities say.

Moments later, Harris can be seen pulling a firearm from his waistband, according to police.

Authorities then say Harris opened fire on plainclothes officers after spotting their unmarked van with police lights arrive at the scene. Officers returned fire, striking Harris, who was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Officials have filed multiple charges against the 18-year-old, including assault on a police officer.
