Virginia Woman Goes Missing After Sending Strange Text to Husband: 'I am Clueless to What Happened

“Why did she turn her phone off?”

A Virginia woman went missing Tuesday after her husband said she sent him a bizarre text while at a local clinic for severe head pain.

"I am clueless as to what happened," Mark Ditto told WTVR-TV.

Mark's wife, Connie, a popular hairdresser in Henrico County, checked into Patient First after complaining of head pain at work.

“She said she wasn’t feeling well and was going to go to a walk-in clinic,” Mark told WTVR.

The husband said he received a text instructing him not to visit the clinic because she was being sent to a local hospital for X-rays. Mark and his teenage step-daughters nonetheless drove to the hospital, only to be unable to find her.

Police later told Mark that the information in the text she sent him was not true. Instead, authorities said Connie left before her name was called.

Following the strange text, Connie's phone was switched off.

“Why did she turn her phone off?” Mark rhetorically asked in his interview with WTVR.

A missing persons report was filed the next day and officers are currently investigating.

Mark said that his wife hit her head in a fall the previous week and had fought alcohol abuse and depression in her life.

“I fear she’s driven off somewhere, that’s she’s blacked out and gone,” Mark told WTVR.
