Rosie O'Donnell Defends Fox News' Megyn Kelly Against 'War on Women' With Crass Joke

"I'd like to smear it all over some people's faces."

Rosie O'Donnell on Friday decried the “war on women that is happening in this country” and defended Fox News Host Megyn Kelly against 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Calling into SiriusXM's “Just Jenny," O'Donnell said said that equality for women is currently being taken away "politically."

“Bigger than any specific people, there is a war on women that is happening in this country,” O’Donnell told host Jenny Hutt, according to CBS News.

“Women fought for equality in this country, and right now, politically, it’s being taken away from us," she said.

O'Donnell also discussed the controversy surrounding marathon runner Kiran Gandhi, a 26-year-old who decided to run the London Marathon while on her period without any feminine products to highlight "period-shaming."

"Women's bodies don't exist for public consumption," Gandhi told People Magazine after she gained international media attention for her demonstration.

O'Donnell defended the runner's decision on Friday, tying what Gandhi did to the controversial comments Trump made about Kelly after the Fox News GOP debate.

"Why do you think she did that?" O’Donnell asked of Gandhi’s protest. "When Fox anchors are being accused of being hormonal and ashamed because they have their period?"

"I'd like to take my period blood that I no longer have and write, 'You're all a**holes,'" she said. "I'd like to smear it all over some people's faces."

During the GOP debate earlier in August, Kelly asked Trump to explain his candor and outspokenness when speaking about women — in particular, Kelly said, his calling women "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals."

"Only Rosie O'Donnell," Trump replied to laughter.

Post-debate polls solidified Trump's firm lead among the other Republican presidential candidates.
