Kevin McCarthy Was Asked to Grade John Boehner. Hannity Was Not Pleased With His Answer
September 29, 2015
"Oh c'mon!"
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) gave outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) a B- rating for his time as speaker, during a Fox News appearance Tuesday night.
The remark came in response to a question from conservative host Sean Hannity, who asked McCarthy twice to grade his colleague.
"Give me a grade for John Boehner as speaker of the house," Hannity told the California congressman who has announced he will seek the speakership.
"I think John Boehner deserves a B-," McCarthy replied.
"Oh c'mon!" Hannity interjected.
"Now look, you may disagree with me, but he won a majority, we have got the highest margin we ever head before, we lowered the deficit within there — but you know what? There is a lot more. We passed 300 bills this year, but you look into the Senate, they haven't moved," McCarthy shot back.
Hannity, who has been highly critical of the speaker, later said that he would give Boehner a D- for his leadership.
