Did Oregon Sheriff Post Conspiracy Theory Video on Facebook After Sandy Hook?

"Keep an open mind."

The Oregon sheriff investigating the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College on Thursday appears to have once posted a Sandy Hook conspiracy video on Facebook.

John Hanlin posted a link to a YouTube video in 2013 filled with questions ranging from whether there could have been additional gunmen in the December 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, to whether the parents of murdered children were actually "crisis actors."

"This makes me wonder who we can trust anymore. Watch, listen, and keep an open mind," the post read.

The Sandy Hook post, along with nearly everything else on Hanlin's page, including photos of him, was deleted or made private Friday afternoon after getting attention from news outlets.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to TheBlaze to confirm that the page does in fact belong to the sheriff, though the Facebook user is a member of the public group "Oregon: Douglas County Republicans." At least one other person who shared Hanlin's post before it was taken down referred to him as the "Douglas County sheriff."

The video Hanlin linked to shows news clips from the time of the Sandy Hook shooting in which men are seen running through the woods and suggests that there was one more than shooter. It also shows parents of the victims "get into character" before news conferences and states that there are "numerous connections" between CrisisActors.com and the families of Sandy Hook. TheBlaze published a comprehensive, point-by-point article debunking the video in 2013.
