Member of Ukrainian Parliament Walks to PM, Hands Him Bouquet of Roses — Then Things Get Very Crazy
December 11, 2015
“So there are lots of morons — let’s finish with the questions to the government."
As tensions continue to escalate over government corruption, frustrations in the Ukrainian Parliament reached a boiling point when a member of the legislature literally picked up Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk by the crotch and carried him off stage.
Yatsenyuk was delivering an annual report on the government's work when a Parliament member representing President Petro Poroshenko's political bloc approached the prime minister, handed the leader a bouquet of red roses (seemingly sarcastically), then proceeded to pick him up and remove him from the podium.
From there, the fight intensified as other members rushed the front of the room. The fights came amid public distrust of the Ukrainian government and accusations of corruption. During his speech, Yatsenyuk said the government has no power to prosecute corruption cases.

"Who prosecutes? Prosecutors do. So who is in charge? The General Prosecutor's office. The president appoints the prosecutor general," the prime minister said during his speech, according to the Kiev Post.
According to the Telegraph, there were at least 1,000 protestors outside the Parliament building calling on Yatsenyuk to resign. However, the leader has declined to do so. But he did comment on the brawl.
When all was said and done and members calmed down, both factions apologized for their behavior, and Yatsenyuk said there were "a lot of morons" involved in the incident.
"Please, I’m not upset,” Yatsenyuk said after the brawl. “So there are lots of morons — let’s finish with the questions to the government."
Following the news of the all-out brawl, social media lit up. In fact, fights like this have become so commonplace in parliamentary settings, #accidentalrenaissance has become a popular hashtag mocking the squabbles.
