Americans United for Life, a pro-life group, has released their rankings of all 50 states according to “how well they protect life in law.”

Each year, the group analyzes legislative actions and court decisions on abortion in each state and shares their findings in the "Life List."

“This is a historic time for life,” Dr. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, said in a statement. “More life-affirming and protective state laws have been enacted since 2010 than in any similar period since Roe v. Wade, and AUL has been involved in nearly one-third of abortion-related measures enacted over the last six years.”

“The momentum for creating a culture that respects life in the law increases each year, empowered with tools such as Americans United for Life’s model legislation, constitutionally sound and deliberately crafted to protect women and their unborn infants from a predatory abortion industry,” Yoest added.

Oklahoma is the new No. 1 state on the group’s 2016 Life List, up from No. 4 last year.

Oklahoma is followed by Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Nebraska, Indiana, North Dakota, Missouri and Texas.

Three states — Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas — were additionally ranked as “Life List All Stars” for their efforts in passing pro-life legislation and defending it in court.

AUL ranked Washington state as the “least protective of women and children against abortion industry abuses” for the seventh year in a row. Washington is followed by Vermont, New Jersey, California, Oregon, Nevada, New York, Hawaii, Connecticut and Wyoming.

The Life List is part of AUL’s 11th edition of “Defending Life,” a compilation of legislation and proposals that AUL characterizes as best practices for the pro-life movement.
